Alby

Previous / Next

Alby is located at Jeløy in Moss, Norway. It was originally a big farm, but now it is an art-gallery called F-15. The woods and the sealine is protected just like national parks...It`s only ten minutes by car from where I live, so it is a perfect place for me to bring a camera. It`s usually packed with people on Sundays, but more relaxing on weekdays.
I have heard that there is a viking-ship buried on the beach not far from Alby. A friend of mine saw this picture, and told me that there were archaeologists digging out there a few years ago, and that they found proof that it really existed, but no one could pay for the project, so it was cowered with sand again, and left there for future generations. Sounds strange to me, but it is definitely something I want to learn more about.
I also heard a story about a church 10 minutes south from here...It`s 800 years old, and now we know that there were another church right next to this one. Some scientists were checking the soil, and by using photographs from a satellite, they could easily see where the other church had been. The experts say this was not uncommon. It was probably two guys who wanted to be king in this area, and not unlike people of today, they got a little carried away...
